• The state that grows the most cotton is Texas.
• Texas has grown almost 5.5 million bales of cotton.
• And thats just for the years through 2010-2012.
• Thats alot of cotton!!!!

WHICH COUNTRY GROWS THE MOST?

• The country tht grows the most cotton is China, India, and the U.S
• China 3-year average production for 2010-2012 was about 33 million bales of cotton!
• India has 26.8 million for the same time period as China.
• The U.S has a average production of 17.0 million.

WHEN IS COTTON PLANTED IN TEXAS?

• Planting starts on Feb. 1 in South Texas.

WHATS THE SYSTEM TO HARVEST?

• 3 mechanical systems are used to harvest cotton.
• Cotton picking machines are use for rotating spindles to pick the seed cotton.
• The second one is called a doffer it removes seed from the spindles and drop the seed cotton.
• The last step is cotton stripping machines use rollers that has bats and brushes to opem the bolls from plants into conveyor.

WHERE IS COTTON GROWN IN THE U.S?

• Its grown at Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California.
• Also in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi.
• .Not done yet, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma.
• Last four, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee and Virginia.
• Wow thats alot of states!!

WHAT IS PRODUCED FROM A BALE OF COTTON?

• Only on bale of cotton can make 1,217 t-shirts.
• Or 313,600 100$ bills!!

WHAT IS A BOLL WEEVIL?

• The boll weevil is the primary enemy of corron. :(
• This pest has plagued U.S cotton producers sonce 1892!

WHAT PERCENT OF U.S COTTON IS EXPORTED?

• Through 2010 and 2012 it was 65% was exported.
