Bringing it all together

  • Focus on special project
  • Collaborate and help one another
Hello! I hope you all had a great Wk 10!

For the remaining time, we will focus on getting your special projects ready. We will use the project to unearth and address any remaining questions or gaps you may have with the general assessment and evaluation theme of the class.

There will now only be small assignments to help encourage you along. The course should culminate with a good and helpful "thing" you can use in your current job.

For this week, I'd like you to reach out to at least one other student. This is the main assigned thing this week. In doing so, we can hopefully accomplish the following;

1. use the remaining time in a relatively lower stress sense to complete a good and useful special project

2. Use interaction built through LinkedIn and the peer grading to grow at least one or two good professional relationships with peers from the class (that may endure past the class ending); take this seriously please. Your "traditional" peers attending on campus gain arguably twice the value in their degree simply through their networking.

3. test ideas from previous weeks

do this plz

  • formally reach out to a peer via email
To encourage accountability on this, please cc me on your email.

An interesting tidbit: who chooses whom will be a form of a "free market"; based on the information available via tumblr, peer grading, etc., why would someone choose you to help them (or not)? You might consider this as a form of feedback/grading in the course.

Yes...like most of the experiences we've had in this class, this should continue to place you just outside your comfort zone a bit.

Hard question: if no one chooses you, what can you learn from this? How might you possibly misinterpret not being chosen?

RULE: this is not designed as a partner event. If a person reaches out for your help, you need to reach out to a new person for help on your project. The goal of this is to focus less on the quid pro quo of a partnership and more on an illustration of the client/consultant relationship

write this plz

  • collaboration post
Write a small post (100 words or so) about your interaction with a peer (or two). How and why did you choose this person (or persons)? What are you hoping to gain from the interaction?

This post does not need to be in any special format (EG, mini-essay), just simple bullet points/short.

Hashtag "60303collaboration" please. (no spaces, no quotes)

Note: this post will not be graded beyond pass/fail (you got it done/didn't get it done)

I like to make fun at the academic liberal agenda piece. Maybe it's a defense mechanism. These are Marxist lego revolutionaries. I think it's Castro on the left and Che on the right...
