ABOUT OWLS

OWLS ARE NOCTORNAL

  • Owls are nocturnal meaning they're more active at night
  • Best time to find them is at dusk/dark
  • They have better vision at night
  • At night they hunt; especially if they have baby owls

CATCHING PREY

  • The first thing they need to catch prey is their talons(claws).
  • Their talons are long sharp and curved
  • Four toes on each foot which is a total of eight toes makes it fully better to grab its prey

OWLS EYES

  • Owls eyes fixed in their sockets
  • They have no muscles around their eyes
  • Owls have pretty big eyes which allows them to see their prey and predator around them
  • Owls dont have cones in their eyes which means that they can only see black an white

SILENT FEATHERS

  • Owls feathers are fluffy and soft
  • That lets them fly silently through the air without the prey/predator hearing them
  • Most owls have fluffy fur that goes all the way down their legs
  • So they can be protected from the prey they caught from bites and scratches

OWL PELLETS

  • Owl pellets is waste that an owl cant digest
  • Owls usually eat rats, small/baby birds, and voles
  • Once the owl swallows its prey it has to wait 12 hours to eat another meal
  • During that twelve hours all the undigested things group together which form a ball clump
  • Then after 11 to 12 hours the owl pukes up all the waste thats not digested
