HISTORY Logrolling started in logging camps in the 1800's. It started out as a way for lumberjacks to transport logs along rivers. Once the men had reached the sawmill, they would see who was the best river-driver and have a contest with 2-3 men on a log with it continuously rolling until the last man was alone on the log.
POPULARITY Logrolling is primarily found in the east coast of Canada, and the Midwest of America. These areas are also home to a lot of forestry activity. The sport is not particularly popular. Partly because of it's difficulty.
RULES To begin a match of logrolling you must get two logs, or two synthetic logs that are sturdy and a decent length. Then you have to get two people on each log. The person who is on the log the longest is the winner.
HEALTH BENEFITS Some health benefits of logrolling are improvement of balance, foot speed, and leg strength. It mainly provides musculature improvement, by producing a lot of leg movements and maneuvers to keep balance.
CONCLUSION In conclusion, I believe logrolling is more of the sport for vacations or occasional events, rather than a life long activity. It provides a sport for all types of events and can be enjoyed by all ages.
