PRESENTATION OUTLINE
What is a natural resource?
"Materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain." (A material that helps our economy that comes from the Earth.)
Reduce
To make smaller or less in amount, degree, or size. (To cut down on something.)
WAYS TO REDUCE
- Use a reusuable bottles.
- Use solar panels.
- Use geothermal energy.
- Use wind powered energy.
- USE THINGS TO THEIR FULLEST!
Reuse
To use again or more then once. (To use something again.)
Ways to reuse
- Reuse your plastic water bottles.
- Reuse your plastic grocery bags for trash can liners.
- Reuse things to make something else.
- Reuse used towels.
- Donate used clothes to thrift shops.
Recycle
To convert (waste) into reusable material. (To turn something old into something new.)
Ways to recycle
- Put your used plastics and papers into recycling bins.
- Make a compost area in your garden.
- Buy rechargeable battery's.
- Buy recycled made objects (paper, ect.)
- Donate your used things to charities.
How do the 3 R's help our natural resources?
Untitled Slide
- They reduce how many natural resources we waste.
- They make sure we use the most out of our natural resources.
- They let us use the same resources over and over.
Are our natural resources in danger?
Yes! here's why:
- We don't give them enough time to replenish.
- We waste our resources.(Ex. Leaving the faucet on.)
- The main thing is, we are using to much of our natural resources.
How can we improve our natural resources?
We can improve our resources by not using up so much of it, and to do that, we need to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We can also use alternative energys, like solar, hydro, geothermal, and wind energy.
Our product is a bag, made out of a used soccerball!
How does it relate to the 3 R's?
- We reused a old broken soccer ball.
- We reduced the amount of waste it would have been if we had thrown it away (It takes 50-100 years to decay.)
- We recycled the soccer ball by turning it into something new (a bag.)
How does this benefit you?
- It shows your spirit of soccer.
- It introduces a way to use old soccer balls.
- You can carry things in it.
- It encourages people to decrease the amount of waste by turning old things into something new.
How does it protect our resources?
- It encourages not throwing as many things away.
- It introduces an idea that is enviornment friendly.
- If the soccer ball was thrown away, it would have taken around 50-100 years to decay, which would be bad for the enviornment.
