PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MISSION TO MARS

My name is Kevin Steele

MARS IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO

It has the best climate, atmosphere, and surface.
Mars has an atmosphere that is thinner than Earth, making it easier to get through than Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. But Pluto has almost no atmosphere, making it easy for asteroids to get through. It is a very rocky planet, which is an improvement to the gas giants. We hope to find out if Mars is habitable.

CRITERIA/CONSTRAINTS

We want it to make it out of the atmosphere...But can it?
Criteria: It has many thrusters, so it should make it out of the atmosphere. Constraint: Is it not aerodynamic enough?

PROTOTYPE#1

PROTOTYPE#2

FINAL PROTOTYPE

PARACHUTES

THE CANOPY, SUSPENSION LINES, AND LOAD.
The canopy is the top, the wires are the ropes holding the load, and the load is what the parachute is holding. Parachutes are essential because they slow down the ship when it is going to crash.

CONDUCTED PARACHUTE TESTS

VARIABLES CHANGE, SO THE VARIABLE IS THE TIME
The variable is time, and the controlled variable is the canopy and suspension lines.

FINAL PARACHUTE

TEST ONE 2.13 TEST TWO 2.33 TEST THREE 2.00

WHAT I LEARNED

QUITE A BIT, THE REST IN NOTES.
How to make a parachute, how to find rate (D=RT), the best material to make a parachute, how to find average, how to design a parachute.
