Stamp Act

  • The poor protested taxes non-stop.
  • To protest the Stamp Act, rioters would sometimes have to burn collectors in fake bodies made of cloth and straw.
  • In New York, they put a 15-foot sculpture of King George on horseback in Bowling Green to show how grateful they were when the Stamp Act was repealed.
  • Bowling Green was the very site of the riots against the Stamp Act.
