WHY IS IT USEFUL
- Carbon steel is resistant to corrosion
- It is also resistant to shock
- It can be thin and very strong
WHEN WAS CARBON STEEL FIRST USED
- Carbon steel was probably used first around 900 A.D.
- It was used in the making of steel weapons specifically swords
- This occurred in europe and east asia
FUN FACTS
- Steel is one of the most recycled metals
- In demolition up to 95 percent of steel is recycled at a time
- Steel doors are fireproof
- 83,000 tons of steel was needed for the golden gate bridge
