WATERSHED

  • Watershed is an area of land that drains downward to the lowest point.
  • Watershed feed wetlands.
  • Wetlands have three common characteristics!
  • First on is water, second one is a wetland soil called hydric
  • The third one is plants that can live underwater.

CONTINENTAL DIVIDE

  • It's a ridge that separates river systems so that they flow to different oceans.
  • Largest and best know continental divide in North America is great divide.

RIVER SYSTEM

  • A river system is made of all streams and rivers that drain a river basin.
  • ND has 3 river systems the Missouri River, the red river,
  • The mouse river and all with their tributaries
  • The longest river in ND and the United States is the Missouri River.

  • What's the largest river in ND? It's the Missouri River
  • How did the flow do the Missouri River change in the 1950s?
  • The flow changed by the building of two dams. The garrison and the Oahe.

RIPARIAN AREA HABITATS

  • Provides habitat for significant numbers and kinds of wildlife
  • The waters are full of fish.
  • And the trees and brush encourage the growth of organisms.
