PRESENTATION OUTLINE

STEM CELLS

CHANGING THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT DISEASES

AN EXPLANATION

  • Stem cells are the mother cells of every tissue in the body.
  • All cells origins can be traced to a stem cell.
  • They can serve as a sort of internal repair system.
  • They divide into cells such as brain, muscle, and red blood cells.
  • They have unique regenerative abilities.

DIFFERENT TYPES

  • Embryonic
  • Somatic
  • Induced Pluripotent

BENEFITS

  • Help improve on existing therapies
  • Alzheimer patients may benefit
  • Type 1 diabetics eliminate blood checks and insulin injections
  • Can replace diseased cells
  • Replace cells damaged by chemotherapy

It's only a matter of time before they figure out how to turn stem cells into nerves, heart cells, liver cells or any other living tissue we may need if we get sick or injured. Disease doesn't need to be a black box mystery.
