• Herbal treatments are thought to cure disease
• Is mainly used to treat Black Death

1400-1600

• Anatomy is started to be studied
• People were beginning to want to study the body

1857

• The germ theory is made
• Pasteur predicts that disease comes from small animals

1865

• A lot of people become infected and doctors don't know why
• Joseph Lister discovers that cleaning medical interments reduces infections

1883

• Koch discovers that pathogens cause disease
• He injects a small animal with another's animals disease and finds that the injected does not get sick

1900S

• City's start to treat water to reduce disease
• Chlorine was used to treat the water

1928

• Alexander Fleming discovers penicillin
• Penicillin was discovered when it was put with another type of mold and the other mold died

1955

• The first polo vaccine becomes available
• By 1994 the disease is eliminated in the U.S

2002

• The disease SARS is discovered in China
• Scientist discover that diseases can manipulate themselves to become new diseases

2005

• Polo comes back to the U.S
• People realize that vaccines don't last through generations
