GEOGRAPHY

  • Bright green grass, and very colorful flowers
  • They lived by the bright blue sea
  • Had some fields with slaves working in them
  • Have a lot of trees and bushes. Also gravel stone paths
  • They also had walls to protect them

EDUCATION

  • Boys grew up to be citizens boy and girls were educated differently
  • Girls grew up helping their mothers around the house.
  • Girls were taught to cook clean spin thread and weave cloth
  • At age 6 or 7 boys were taught at home by their mother and the male slave
  • From age 6 to 14 boys went to school

ECONOMY

  • Athenian economy was based on trade
  • Athenians bought and sold goods at a huge marketplace called the agora
  • They got wood form Italy and grain form Egypt
  • People bought lettuce, onions, olive oil, wine, and other foods
  • Most Athens made their own clothes, but leather sandals, and jewelry were popular items at the marketplace

GOVERNMENT

  • The had a democracy
  • Each year the names of all citizens(30 years old or older) were collected
  • All men who owned land could vote
  • Most Athen men in joyed taking part in the cities democracy
  • One cup of water was set above another

WOMEN AND SLAVES

  • The slaves could work as cleaner,cooker,in fields,factories,shops,mines,ships and the can work for the police force.
  • Most slaves lives where not that different from a poor Greek citizens life.
  • Slaves where very important in Ancient Greek daily life.
  • They could attend weddings,funerals,some religious festivals,and could visit female neighbors for brief periods of time.
  • Most Greek women did not do housework themselves .

ENTERTAINMENT

  • You know your arch rival, those horrible Spartans,will do anything to win,even lie and cheat.
  • Say witty things to impress representatives from other city-states.
  • Be courteous to all Greeks,no matter what inferior city they represent.
  • Cooperate with your fellow Athenians to defeat those brutish Spartans,and do your personal best.
  • Make up a clever chat for Athens,and sing or say it each time an Athenians wins an event or a makes a witty comment.
