Some ways that this disorder is known to us is as muscular dystrophy, and inherited myopathy.

Genes are the only thing that cause this disorder, but it doesn't physically affect you till about the age of 9 or 10 years old.

For 99% of the cases the X chromosome is affected by muscular dystrophy.

Some of the symptoms are muscle weakness, frequent fails, hard time getting up or laying down, muscle pain, learning disabilities, hard to jump, run, and walk on your toes.

About one in every 3500 men are effected by muscular dystrophy. Also you can get this depending on your genes.

Muscular dystrophy is inherited in an x-linked recessive pattern.

The child would need medical help when he reached the age of about 9 through the child's death, which is about the age of 19.

There are no cures for muscular dystrophy but some known treatment are DNA test, a muscle biopsy, and a blood enzyme test.

A person that has muscular dystrophy can have children. And their children can have the disorder depending on what gene the child inherited from each parent.

There are specific institutes that are designed to try to find a cure for muscular dystrophy such as The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes (NINDS).
