  • Both jobs must serve and represent their constituents.
  • Both jobs help get bills passed (committee member).
  • Both jobs must act as a politician.
  • Both jobs must act as a legislator (making laws).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SENATOR

  • Must be 30 years old.
  • Must have been a citizen for 9 years.
  • Must live in the state in which they are elected.
  • (100 members in the Senate)

  • Must be 25 years old.
  • Must have been a citizen for at least 7 years.
  • Must live in the state in which they are elected.
  • (435 members in the House of Representatives
