ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH

WHO INVENTED THE TELEGRAPH
His name was Samuel Morse. He was born on April 27, 1791 in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He was first an American painter and then turned into an inventor. He was also co-developer of the morse code. He died on April 2, 1872 in New York City.

WHEN WAS IT INVENTED
The telegraph was invented in 1838.

THE PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION
The purpose of this invention was for people to communicate with others faster and easier. They could catch up on news too. It was to send and receive messages over part of the telegraph line.

HOW THIS INVENTION AFFECTED AMERICA
It made a big change against society. It reduce the time it took to transfer information from weeks to hours or minutes. It allowed people to talk to people from different cities or different states. It also sped up businesses.
