  • married Anne Hathway
  • Father to Susanna and twins: Judith & Hamnet
  • Begin career as an Actor
  • Originally worked for "Lord Chamberlain's Men"

William Shakespeare (cont):

  • favored by Queen Elizabeth I
  • Her favorite play was "The Merry Wives of Windsor"
  • With the death of Elizabeth I in 1603, King James I took over; Shakespeare's company adopted the name "The King's Men"
