WHAT WAS THE HOLOCAUST?

  • State - sponsored persecution were 6 million Jews died.

HITLER COMES TO POWER

  • The mood in Germany was grim.
  • He attracted a wide following of Germans desperate for change.
  • He promised a better life for disenchanted people.
  • Promised a better and new Germany.

NAZI RACISM

  • Hitler was obsessed with ideas about race.
  • Nazis and German scientists believed that human race can be limited of reproduction of people.
  • They targeted African German children, mentally ill, gypsies, and handicapped.
  • Nazi leaders and Hitler viewed Jews as a poisonous race.

THE MURDER OF THE HANDICAPPED

  • Hitler suggested wartime was the best to eliminate incur ably ill.
  • Mentally retarded, physically handicapped, or mentally ill where murdered in the t-4 nazi way.
  • About 200,000 handicapped were murdered between 1940 - 1945.
  • Handicapped infants and small children were killed by drugs or starvation by one injection.
