THE BREADWINNER

CHARECTERIZATION

Parvana is brave. Brave:to have strength of mind and act firmly in the face of danger

Quote.
" "Get out of my house!" She yelled. She threw herself at the soldiers with such force that they both fell to the ground. She swung at them with her fists until she was knocked aside. She heard rather than felt the thwack of their sticks on her back . She kept her head hidden in her arms until the beating stopped and the soldiers went away. "

Connection
I have a connection to having to be brave. When I had my first time on the ice for hockey. I was terrified because I had no idea how to play hockey or skate with all my gear on.

Nooria is snobby: one who is convinced of his or her superiority in matters of taste or intellect

Quote.
""No one will believe me as a boy" Nooria said calmly, looking down at her body. Nooria being calm just made Parvana madder. "I'll look like that soon," Parvana said. "You wish." "

Connection
I have a connection to being snobby because my brother Ethan is always snobby towards me. Since I have to look after him every day after school even though he's nine years old now. For example when I tell him to turn the TV off and get ready for hockey he plugs his ears and makes really annoying sounds.

Mrs. Weera is athletic: physically active and strong; good at athletics or sports

Quote.
" "Here's something they didn't get." She took a medal on a bright ribbon out of the box. "I won this in an athletics competition. It means I was the fastest woman runner in all of Afghanistan!" "

Connection
My connection for being athletic is that playing hockey you always want to stay fit. Mainly because you win games based on your athletic level because you have to work really hard the whole game. I have learned that if you don't work hard you just let your team down.

Shauzia is driven: being under compulsion, as to succeed or excel .

Quote.
" "I'm saving money, a little bit each day. I'm getting out of here." "Where?when?" Shauzia kicked at the wall in a rhythm, but Parvana stopped her. She'd seen the Taliban hit a child for banging on an old board like it was a drum. The Taliban hated music. "I'll stay until next spring," Shauzia said. "I'll have a lot of money by then, and it's better not to travel in the winter." "Do you think we'll still have to be boys in the spring? That's a long time from now." "I want to still be a boy then," Shauzia insisted. "If I turn back into a girl, I'll be stuck at home. I couldn't stand that." "Where will you go?" " France. I'll get on a boat and go to France." "

Connection
My connection to being driven is when I really wanted to save up to redecorate my room. I wouldn't let any one touch my money. I had a pink bed so I wanted to decorate my room how I wanted it when we move. So I would fold all the laundry every week for only $5 for every 4 baskets.
