PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1. Hernan Cortes searched for gold and established Tenochtitán.
2. They had viceroys and kings in the Spanish colonial administration.
3. At the top there were peninsularies, then Creoles (common people).
4. One of the reasons that the Portuguese were so interested in Brazil because of "pau-brasil". A red wood that was much in demand because of the dye that could be extracted from it. Many other natural resources were easily available in the land of Brazil. The Portuguese brought along slaves to work the land for them.
5. The French and English were on good condition with the Native Americans at first. As time went on land disputes and fight over laws and rules started to become a problem.
6. The Treaty of Tordesillas was a treat signed by Spain and Portugal in which they agreed to divide up the land outside of Europe equally between themselves. It was signed in hopes to end land disputes.
