What is the moral of the story?
We HAVE to know what the scores we are reporting mean, or our data has no meaning.
Since we HAVE to spend a great deal of time and effort to be data-based, we need to make sure it is meaningful and useful

There are many types of data!
Nominal---a list that is not quantitative (phone book, class list)
Ordinal--rank order data; curved (percentile, WIAT, GE)
Interval--ranked in equal intervals; ladder (MAP, temperature)
Ratio--has absolute 0; part to a whole (percents, attendance data)
