Christianity started in Palestine, the place where Jesus is from. Under roman rule, the Jews who were also roman citizens grew to dislike Jesus and plan his death, and later, he resurrected from the dead.
The main figure in this religion is Jesus Christ, who is believed to be the Son of God, and a Devine entity at the same time. Born around 4-6 B.C.E, Jesus acquired many followers as he preached the truth about the forgiveness of sins, and the hypocrisy of the Jewish leaders of his time. This ultimately lead to his crucifixion, said to have occurred 30-33 C.E. Christ's pretense on the earth is critical to the Christian belief, confirming what Christians believe to be a second coming, where Jesus will come gather all his followers and take them to heaven.
