SYPHILIS

Chronic STD caused by spirochete

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

  • A chancre (hard ulcer or sore) on the external
  • genitalia a few weeks after bacterial infection.
  • 2-6 months after the sign disappears secondary
  • Syphilis begins.

SECONDARY SYPHILIS

  • Tertiary syphilis damages the brain
  • Spinal cord, and heart.
  • This may appears years after the first
  • symptoms disappear.

TREATMENT

Penicillin is effective for most treatment.
