Currently, solar panels are made of layers of silicon to capture blue light, and red and infrared light passes through. If we add photonic crystals behind the silicon, the infrared and red light will reflect and can be captured by the silicon. The crystals reflect all photons at different wave lengths, so the light not captured by the silicon will reflect until absorbed. It can increase efficiency up to 37%, making the need for lots of panels to decrease. Can also charge battery if being stored for later use.
