" I had no idea of what i was capable of until I started volunteering for VAL and loved the sense of self worth and the trust they placed in me. I felt respected and useful." Giving Time Volunteer 2015

Lots of people with criminal convictions volunteer - there is something for everyone. Yes, EVERYONE!

The type of volunteering opportunity you can do will depend on your conviction. If you have a certain conviction such as sex offences you are unlikely to volunteer with vulnerable adults however, you may be able to work with animal, outdoors or in a supervised office

Your life experience can make you a very valuable volunteer. A charity can train you to take your experience to the next level

You are allowed to volunteer & be on BENEFITS at the same time! Just make sure:
- You don't miss any appointment at the Job Centre
- You are available to start working right away
- You inform your Volunteer Manager of any appointment or interview you may need to attend
