PAY

  • The average pay is $105,200 annually
  • With a Bachelors degree, you make around $40,000 annually
  • With a Masters degree, you make around $46,700 annually
  • Ph.D's make around $85,000 annually.
  • In a state with more positions, you might make less than someone working in a small population state.
  • Men get paid around $50,000 while women make $40,000 on average.

You need to know chemical symbols (which you will learn in school).

WHERE?

  • In Alaska, many chemical engineers are required to help with the oil.
  • On average, New Jersey engineers made the most with $135,670 annually for Ph.D's.

JOBS IN THIS FIELD

  • Most Chemical Engineers end up being professors or in some academic field.
  • 41% of Bachelor and Master degree holders and 51% Ph.D's get a job in academics.
  • Only about 20% of bachelor degree holders, 27% of master degree holders, and 19% of Ph.D's get a job in the actual chemical industry.
