Jupiter

  • Was a sky god, King of the Gods.
  • As a sky god he served as a divine witness to oaths the sacred trust on which justice and good government depended on.
  • Romans regarded Jupiter similar to Zues.

Juno

  • Roman goddess, protector and special counselor of the state
  • Wife of Jupiter.
  • Looked after the women of Rome.
  • Greek god equivalence of 'Hera' .

Bacchus

  • God of wine
  • Usually associated with luck in growing grapes.
  • Refer to what Mr Cary taught us about this guy... :^)

Apollo

  • Most important and complex Olympian deity in both Greek and Roman mythology.
  • He was associated with medicine and healing but also was believed to be able to bring ill-health and deadly plagues.
  • Was also known as the god of music and poetry and also a defender of herds and flocks.
  • Basically a jack of all trades.

  • She was known as a 'Magna Mater' which translated to 'Great Mother' and referred to as the mother of the gods.
