1. Make a storyboard.

It gives you direction.
Always do a storyboard. Even if you don't follow it picture for picture, it gives you direction.

Be very specific in your storyboard. The more information you include, the less work you will have to tackle later.

2. Use a tripod.

Improvise if necessary.

3. Use a microphone.

They make them for iPads!

4. Have good lighting.

Get external lights to shed light on subjects.

5. Keep rolling.

Don't turn the record on and off.

6. Limit zooming!

Simple is better.

7. Record several takes.

Don't shy away from asking talent to re-do the action.

8. Use appropriate visuals, audio and cuts.

i.e. music, sound effects, b-roll

9. Have rights to use images, clips, and audio.

Avoid use of commercial music.

10. Get written permission from talent.

Check for school's form permitting use for media purposes.
