A BARBER'S HISTORY

IN THE BEGINNING

• Barber's were used first by Egyptian priests and noblemen 6,000 years ago.
• The first record of cosmetics being used was in 1500 B.C.
• Shaving was introduced to Rome in 296 B.C. by Ticinius Mena
• As early as 1391 B.C. God had told the Israelites to shave all their body hair if the wanted to recover from leprosy.

THE OLD TRADITIONS

• Some cultures had long hair to show their rank or class.
• In Greece the boys had to cut their hair once they reached a certain age
• Woman would use color in their hair to show their class or rank.
• Some even believed that hair was a source of intelligence.
