TRIANGLE

  • A plane figure with three straight sides and three angles.
  • Triangle came from the Latin word for trianguli.
  • The actual word triangle was created between 1350-1400 A.D.

  • A plane figure with four straight sides and four right angles.
  • Rectangle came directly from rectangulum by combining form of Latin rectus "right".
  • The actual word rectangle was created between 1565-1575 A.D.

CIRCLE

  • A round plane figure whose boundary consists of points equidistant from a fixed point.
  • The word circle came from the Latin word circulus.
  • The actual word circle was created before 1000A.D.

SPHERE

  • A round solid figure, with very point on its surface equidistant from its center.
  • The word sphere came from the Greek word spaira.
  • The actual word sphere was created between 1250-1400 A.D.

CONE

  • A solid object that tapers from a circular or roughly circular base to a point.
  • The word cone came from the Greek word konos.
  • The actual word cone was created between 1480-1490 A.D.
