PRESENTATION OUTLINE

R is for reading. Throughout the entire book they discourage reading of any kind and it is seen as a crime. The citizens brought the ban on books themselves because they didn't want to learn or think and anyone that thinks is seen as a bad person.

S is for salamander. Throughout the book there are many references to salamanders. It represents fire because in old times they were thought to be born from fire.

W is for war. There has been a war going on for many years and for so long no one knows what it's over. In the book the war parallels montag, when he had just burned down his house and killed Beatty, they had just declared war again.

X is for xenophobia. Xenophobia is the fear of strangers. Most of the people stereotyped the firemen even though they didn't know them, like Clarisse did to montag and montag ended up trying to change society for the better.

Z is for zombie. Everyone in the future acts like a zombie. They all have almost no emotions at all. For example when someone dies they feel no sadness and don't even bother to have a funeral.
