- His expedition throughout the world made him believe that Spain should free its colonies and focus more on international trading.
- He suggested that Spain should abandon the military domination of far-off lands and establish a Pacific Rim trading bloc,managed by the Spaniards from Acapulco.
- However, the government did not believe him and imprisoned him in jail for 7 years.
- To the people of his time,he was a criminal,but history showed that he is a hero.
