AUGUSTUS
First emperor(even though never claimed title for himself.)
Led Romes transformation from republic to empire.
His reign began the period known as the Pax Romana(Roman Peace)
This period of peace lasted for over 200 years
Took control in 27 B.C. And died in 14 A.D.

Came into power in A.D. 14
Political inability, poor judgement and jealousy led Rome into a dark age
He was not the preferred successor of Augustus
He was not the best Emperor

Considered brutal and insane
He is thought to be Rome's most tyrannical emperor
He ruled from A.D. 37-41
He was assassinated

CLAUDIUS
Ruled 41-54 A.D.
He was an intelligent man and ruled the empire wisely
After Caligula was assassinated, a Praeatorian guard acclaimed Claudius as emperor
He lacked a military reputation,but he did undertake the conquest of Great Britain in A.D. 43
He had also added Mauretania(north Africa), Thrace(The Balkan) , and Lycia(part of modern day Turkey)

NERO
Ruled from 54-68 A.D.
He was the last Emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
Was accused of burning large area of land down for his own use.
Nero focused mostly on Diplomacy, trade and enhancing the cultural life.
He killed himself rather then face certain assassination
