Uncle Tom's Cabin

Uncle Tom's Cabin was a novel published by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1852 that showed slavery as brutal and immoral.

Harriet Beecher Stowe was born in Litchfield Connecticut and was the seventh child of her family. In 1936, she married Calvin Ellis Stowe moved to Maine in 1950 due to the Fugitive Slave Act. And in 1852 she wrote her most celebrated work Uncle Tom's Cabin.

The book became a huge impact in many lives and sold over 300,000 books. It made a huge impact for the rights of African Americans and helped women's rights.

My Reaction to this was that I was amazed at how many books were sold and it had such a big affect on slavery and the woman's rights. It was a huge part of our American history and it was the most popular fiction book on slavery.
