Born in 1868 in Linden,Texas

Julius taught him classical European music
During the 1880's he went to st.Lewis to study ragtime

FIRST WORKS
First songs were called "Please say you will"
And "a picture of her face"
Started writing rags with Scott Hayden and Arthur Marshall
In 1898 published "original rags"

SUCCESSIONS
In 1899 Scott created "The Maple Leaf Rag"
Half a million copies were sold
He created "the ragtime dance" which was performed at over 400 clubs.
In 1901 and 1902 he wrote many more popular songs like The easy winners

LOWEST POINT
1903 Scott planed on taking a tour for his opera music
Someone stole the box office receipt so his tour was cancelled
He was unable to meet his payroll
After his wife died he lost a ton of money from his failed opera

:Scott went to New York and started writing more operas
:in 1914 he wrote his last rag called"Magnetic rag" 2 years after the Titanic sank
In 1917 he died of tertiary syphilis
