INTRODUCTION

  • Banning guns will lead to many things
  • Black market guns
  • Depriving people of their rights
  • Crime rate won't change

BLACK MARKET GUNS

  • Criminals can easily sell guns without a license on the black market
  • The black market would be an easy way for criminals to obtain firearms
  • Citizens wouldn't have any guns for themselves

DEPRIVING PEOPLE OF THEIR RIGHTS

  • The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution protects ones right to own a gun
  • There are already laws involving gun control
  • Background checks and waiting periods are 2 examples
  • Reasonable gun control can be put in place without a ban

CRIME RATE

  • More than just guns are used to commit crimes
  • Gun laws like the Brady Law were found to not have affected the crime rate
  • In 2012 Chicago had over 500 murders and had the most strict gun laws

OPPOSING ARGUMENT

  • People feel criminals are more able to commit crimes with guns
  • Some think that a ban will reduce crime

CONCLUSION

  • A gun ban will make things worse
  • Guns will be sold in other ways
  • People will argue that it's unconstitutional
  • There will still be crime
  • A better solution to the crime rate should be made without the restriction of guns
