PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Waves

Crest and Trough

In a wave, crests are the high points and troughs are the low points.

Wavelength

Wavelength is the distance between two troughs or two crests.

Amplitude

The amplitude is the distance from the rest point to the crest or trough

Rest Position

The imaginary line in a wave

Frequency

The number of wavelengths to pass a certain point in a certain amount of time

Transverse Waves

  • In this wave, energy moves at right angles to the direction the wave moves.
  • These waves move perpendicular
  • Energy moves up and down

Longitudinal

  • Longitudinal waves move back and forth.
  • These waves move parallel
