He began as the Vice President to McKinley, where he was pretty unhappy and thought to be to "cowboy" for politics. After McKinley was shot and died, Roosevelt was sworn in as the 26th president
He promised to keep McKinley's cabinet and policies. Then in Nov. 1904 Roosevelt won the presidency against Alton Brooks Parker. His VP was Charles Warren Fairbanks
He became known as the "trust buster", curbing the power of larger corporations. He also responded to public outcry about abuses in food packaging. He passed Meat Inspection act and Pure Food and Drug act
He also set out to build the Panama Canal. He had to convince congress to let him pass the canal in Panem, and he had a treaty written up, only to have it be rejected by the Columbian government. The Panamanians rebelled supported by Roosevelt and won.
