PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MISSION TO MARS

AIDAN BARDSLEY

WHY WE CHOSE MARS.

  • Mars is closest to earth
  • Scientists believe there used to be water on Mars
  • Mars is most like earth
  • We want to learn if there is life on Mars
  • We want to see if we can discover new things

CRITERIA AND CONSTRAINTS

  • I want the space craft to be able to take high quality pictures
  • The camera might be expensive and break easily
  • I want it to travel quickly to Mars and land safely
  • We can't really control the speed and we can only do so much to protect it

THE SPACE CRAFT WAS ROUND WITH HEADLIGHTS,8 ROOMS,AND WINGS

PARACHUTES

  • The parachute is important because it helps slow down the space craft
  • The canopy (top) is big and lightweight it is the part that slows the load
  • Suspension lines attach the canopy to the load
  • Load: space craft

TESTING

  • Our group tested the canopy size
  • We kept the load and suspension lines the same
  • Our variable was the canopy
  • We changed the canopy from big, little, and medium
  • The results showed that the big canopy was the slowest

OUR FINAL PARACHUTE

FINAL PARACHUTE We used tissue paper, medium suspension lines, and a big canopy. We chose this because they had the best averages. Our results were And we made the packing score . As it slowly floated down I knew our parachute was pretty good.

THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE I LEARNED...

Through this process I learned how hard it is to go to mars and the struggles NASA has to go through. I learned how to create drag and what it's like to be an engineer. I loved making parachutes and learning about Mars.
