CHINESE SCHOOLS

SCHOOL BUILDINGS

  • Depends in which part of China you are found.

SCHOOL FOOD

  • Different standards in different schools.
  • In Beijing, school lunches are typically provided by the school, who orders them through food companies supervised by the local education authority.
  • In other parts of China, children go home for lunch

LESSONS

  • Many schools require on Saturdays to attend a morning class in Math and Science
  • Typical lessons include
  • Math, Science, Literature, Chinese, English, History, Music, Art and PE

SPORTS

  • Shichahai Sports School
  • Chose at a tender age of six
  • Train for four hours in the afternoon
  • Only allowed to see their offspring on the weekends

ASA

  • Music lesson and sports
  • Does not last as long as Western schools

A TYPICAL DAY

  • About 21 students in each class
  • Textbook learning
  • Chinese language and math skills assessed at the end of each year
  • 7:30-5:00, with a two hour lunch break
  • Some students go home for lunch
  • From early September to mid-July

AES COMPARISON

  • 8:30-3:35
  • ASA last maximum for 2 hours
