Saint Catherine of Siena was born on March 17, 1347 in Siena, Italy. She died on April 29, 1380 in Rome. She lived in Siena for a while, but later in her life she moved to Rome. Saint Catherine was canonized in 1461, by Pope Pius II.
St.Catherine of Siena lived by the beatitude "Blessed are those who morn, for they will be comforted." When her friends and family died, she went through some rough times, but she did not let the hard times affect her relationship with God and Jesus. Instead she turned to them for guidance and comfort.
St.Catherine is the patron saint of firefighters, the ill, nurses, and miscarriages. She is also the co-patron of Italy, along with St.Francis of Assisi.
People pray to St.Catherine for healthy lives and for their babies to be born safe and healthy. People also pray for arguments to be settled and to get over colds and illnesses quickly.
