Robert was determined to find out how far the Mississippi River flowed.
In 1682 he reached the mouth of the Mississippi, where it empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
Robert was exploring for France.
Robert de Lasalle founded Louisiana and what France got in return, was land.
Robert de Lasalle's exploration was successful, because he found out how far the Mississippi River flowed, and founded Louisiana. His exploration changed the world by creating more land for the United States.
