Understanding Time Management

I think Time Management does not need explaining, as much as listing the processes needed to ensure completing the project on time

Time Mgmt Processes:

• Define Activities
• Sequence Activities
• Estimate Activity Resources
• Estimate Activity Duration
• Develop Schedule
• Control Schedule

1. Define Activities

Relying on the WBS (scope baseline)
Here we list the activities needed
Referred to as
'Work Package'

Major Outputs to this process are:
- Activity Attributes: Log which extends to define multiple activity components like WBS ID, activity ID, code, description, predecessors, successors, etc.
- Milestones: Significant events in the project life-cycle

2. Sequence Activities

VITAL.
Since we are managing Time.
Relationships among activities must be documented to help in scheduling later
Regardless of methods used, mu output should be a 'Project Schedule Network Diagram'

3. Estimate Activity Resources

Estimating the Type, and Quantities of
Material, People, Equipment, and Supplies needed.

4. Estimate Activity Duration

Approximating the number of work periods needed to complete individual activities

Note that you first need to estimate your resources, to be able to estimate the durations needed to complete the work

5. Develop Schedule

We analyze:
- Sequences
- Resource Requirements
- Durations
and - Constraints
And come up with
'Project Schedule'

Project Schedule must include the planned Start & Finish dates for each activity

6. Control Schedule

Is the process of Monitoring the Status of my project and Updating progress and managing changes to the Schedule Baseline
