MY CULMINATING PROJECT

BY MASON GOLDSMITH

THE PALEOLITHIC AGE

In The beginning of the Paleolithic age hominids lived in caves in Africa. Then later scientists discovered a tent built by Homo Erectus in what is now France.

The creation of permanent shelters led to modern humans having shelters that protect us from the elements and predators. Now humans have a better chance of survival because they are protected by their houses.

Australopithecus Afarensis
was the first hominid that was bipedal that means she had the ability to walk on two legs . This helped Lucy's chances because now she had her hands free to protect their children and gather food.

Because humans are bipedal animals we can do things with are hands as we stand or walk. That is why we can write play sports and even open a doorknob.

The first stone tools were found in the neolithic age with Homo Habilis. These tools were simple sharpened rocks but they led to very advanced tools.

The development of early tools lead to metal tools that we use today like axes shovels hammers and rakes . These tools are more efficient at doing their job.

THE NEOLITHIC AGE

Around 8000 B.C. the neolithic people learned to plant their own crops. Around the same time people learned to domesticate animals so they could be more useful to humans .

This leads to a stable food supply of meat and produce for modern humans. Because of agriculture our jobs are easier.

In neolithic times towns and villages began to trade for the resources that they didn't have. These 100 mile journeys in search for flint and obsidian often led to the trading of information.

The development of trade led to modern money. This also leads to the value of certain items changing based on importance and popularity.

In the neolithic age people advanced into mud-brick or wood houses. These houses were often found in groups or clusters.

Because our ancestors developed more permanent housing modern humans are sure of safety from the elements in their homes . This also lead to special techniques of building houses.

EMERGENCE OF SUMER

the first sign of organized armies appeared around 2300 b.c.e. when the akkaidians invaded the Sumerian city states. these tactics were very simple but they worked.

Now military tactics are more effective. The soldiers are taught more efficient fighting styles and are more efficient.

All because of a fight for water the sumerians built huge city states and lived in them around 3500 B.C.E.BY 3000 BCE almost all Sumerians lived in these city states.

The development of city states leads to cities being the center of modern human life. These cities are also the center of socializing and trading.

The whell was invinted raround 3500 BCE. They created the potters wheel first and put it on an axel and it made things easier to move.

Nowadays you see the wheel everywhere in modern life. These inventions are used to transport humans and other things.
