• Both emerged out as superpowers after WWII
• The Soviets blockaded Western Europe in 1948
• NATO was formed to fight against Communism
• US Policy of Containment and Soviet Response
• Nuclear arms and Space race were the battles

• Capitalism has many things for personal gain
• Communism controls many things like food
• Communism doesn't give you freedom like Capitalism

The Spark of the war

• The Policy wanted to stop Communism from spreading 
• The U.S. also provided aid to anyone resisting Communism
• This occured in Korea, Vietnam, Latin America, and the Middle East

The Kitchen Debate

• Nixon toured Russia and talked to Nikita
• They talked about food and the way others eat
• This resulted in a conflict that changed 
• This debate changed into the Nuclear war conflict
• Later, this resulted in weapons on foreign soil (Cuba and Turkey)
