Career Report:Newscaster

By:Amy Lindley

The career I have chosen to research is Newscaster! This career falls under Arts and Humanities. One reason I wanted to research this career is to know what type of education you need. I also wanted to know how much money they make. And I really wanted to know what a newscaster does.

To be a newscaster you have to have social perceptiveness, complex problem solving, coordination, judgement and decision making, management of personal resources, negation, persuasion, and time management. The education you need is math, science, reading comprehension, active listening, writing, speaking, critical thinking, active learning, learning strategies, and monitoring.

In this job you travel by car, and you work inside and outside. Also, you have to write a lot. You would usually work in a building with cameras, and you would usually sit down, but you are sometimes on your feet.

If you are a newscaster then you will get paid $23.99 for the average hourly wage, and you will get paid $49,890 for the average annual wage. You can move to higher positions like lead speaker and you could have more parts. And, you can be a newscaster/actor at a young age.

After researching this career, I want to be newscaster even more, because you get a whole lot of money. Plus, you get to be on t.v., and I've always wanted to be on t.v! Even though I don't like writing, I still want to be a newscaster.
