HOW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FELT

THE REASON THE WAR BEGAN

• The US feared the spreading of communism
• It was a consequence of the Cold War
• It was was between North and South Vietnam
• It's really un known who won the war
• But some would say North because they gained the independence

THE UNITED STATES INVOLVEMENT

• The US at first was apprehensive
• But they eventually allied with south Vietnam
• The US did air raids on North Vietnam
• The US did not want the spread of communism
• Many did not agree with the US involvement

COUNTER CULTURE

• People where known as " hippies"
• There where people who were civil rights activists
• Anti war demonstrations
• The youth rejected the standards of their parents

HOW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FELT

• The US was split in how they felt about the war
• Some thought they were sent over because South Vietnam can't fight for themselves
• Some thought because we were a super country we should fight for injustice
• Others just wanted our men home and let the Vietnam work it out
• There were tons of protests in streets we were never so divided
