  • He developed the theory of psychosocial development.
  • He was a psychoanalyst and developmental psychologist.
  • He learned many environmental, cultural, and social knowledge which influenced him.
  • I support this theory at some points but not at others, one thing is that 2 years olds do not know basically autonomy.
  • He spent time learning the culture and life of the Sioux of South Dakota and Yurok.

INFANCY

Birth to 18 months

TRUST VS. MISTRUST

  • Trust for parent and are reliable on them.
  • Need care for family and parents.
  • Important event: feeding

AUTONOMY VS. SHAME AND DOUBT

  • Personal control and learn physical skills
  • Success and failure in skills, etc.
  • Important event: Toilet training

3 to 5 years

INITIATIVE VS. GUILT

  • They need to start building up power.
  • Control, success, etc.
  • Too much power ends up with disapproval and guilt.
  • Important event: Exploration

SCHOOL AGE

6 to 11 years

  • New social and academic demands
  • Trying hard, success and failure..
