SYMPTOMS

  • Skin is red , warm , tender , swollen and maybe painful to the touch
  • Fever , chills , muscle aches
  • Boils or pus filled vesicles

WHOS AT HIGH RISK ?

  • People with past history of surgery procedures
  • Suppressed immune system
  • An open wound that got contaminated by any infected material

DISEASE SPREADING

  • Mostly occurs by injections if contaminated substances
  • After accidental injury where wound is contaminated by soil
  • Little transmission from person to person

HOW DOES IT SPREAD ?

  • A wound that comes in contact with contaminated soil
  • Infected injections
  • Contaminated equipment

PREVENTION OF DISEASE

  • Avoid receiving injections or procedures from unlicensed persons
  • Washing hands if coming in contact with infected site
  • any surgery or medical procedure provided by the health care worker
  • Using unsterilized equipment

TREATMENTS FOR INFECTION

  • Antibiotics
  • Draining collections of pus
  • Removing the infected tissues
  • Appropriate skin disinfectant
