A HISTORY OF ROCKETS

THE FIRST ROCKET

• The first rocket was made by Dr.Robert Goddard in 1926.
• The first rockets were used for Military Purposes and entertainment.

MILITARY USES

• Although they said they weren't made until 1926, they are said to be dated back to ancient Chinese times and used by them in armies in 1232.

THE FIRST ROCKET IN SPACE

• The first rocket which could fly high enough to actually get into space was the V2 Missile. It was launched by Germany in 1942.
• The first rocket that actually launched something into space was used to launch Sputnik, the first satellite. It was launched October 4, 1957

WHAT ARE ROCKETS CURRENTLY USED FOR

• They are used for space travel, military uses, launching satellites into space, for entertainment such as fireworks.
