DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

ImOVIE

  • Within iMovie we had to teach oursleves how to edit footage including: how to change the speed, cut, paste and trim videos, adjust the sound and lighting, and how to add filters, credits and transitions.
  • Some problems we faced included transferring some of the footage from the iPhone to iMovie, as we often found some clips went missing and we had to reupload them.

iMovie

  • This was time consuming and worrying as we did not want to lose any footage, which luckily we managed to recover and upload to iMovie eventually with some research.
  • For A2 we will ensure that we back up every video on to the desktop first so that we do not lose footage on iMovie, and further our editing skills by being more precise with our continuity as well as try more inventive ways of editing.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

  • We realised that in order to create an audience we would have to promote our work on social networking sites such as Facebook and Instagram which are widely used by our audience of 16-25 year olds.
  • We created an Instagram page which we updated regularly to show our audience images of our actors and location as well as our progess to make them want to watch the real thing.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

  • Facebook and Twitter proved successful in promoting our final piece, as our target could easily click on a link which would direct them to the video on YouTube.
  • Our target audience also liked and shared our work promoting it to other people of different ages which gained the piece more views and recognition.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

  • For A2 we will make sure that we create an Instagram page earlier on which we could post progress pictures and gain more followers earlier on, as well as share more previews of our work as we go along.
  • I felt that our potential audience did not know anything about the piece we were making until the final stages therefore we will make sure we promote it early on to build a following.

YOUTUBE

  • YouTube was our platform for uploading drafts of our work as we progressed from the Preliminary through to our final piece.
  • Through the WOKMEDIA channel we were able to upload any other videos such as our animated logo as well as evaluation questions which could easily be viewed from school or at home.

YOUTUBE

  • I often used YouTube to embed clips of sound or film trailers on to Blogger, which made my blog more interactive and visually pleasing.
  • We also used it to watch clips of Social Realism films and to research into the genre which was very useful as it gave us a lot of inspiration

YOUTUBE

  • The only problems we faced with YouTube was the upload time, therefore for A2 we will allow more time to upload our footage to ensure we meet deadlines and do not lose any work.

CAMERAS

  • We decided to continue filming with an iPhone after the successful outcome of our Preliminary, except the quality would be even better as we were using an iPhone 6 belonging to Tilly.
  • The camera films in 1080p HD at 60 fps, including the features 240-fps slo-mo and time-lapse video.

CAMERAS

  • The iPhone camera was evidently better quality than most digital cameras or even the school cameras and we did not have to pay to buy or hire it.
  • To ensure that our filming was steady and smooth, we borrowed the school tripod and iPhone adapter, and also used a macro lens to assist out extreme close up shots, which may not have been possible on a normal camera.

CAMERAS

  • We made sure that we always had enough storage to film but for A2, if we use the same device, we must ensure that the phone is fully charged before we film and that we have access to a charger to prevent the phone from going out of battery, which would put us at risk of losing our work.

CAMERAS

  • The benefit of using an Apple iPhone is the fact that is is completely compatible with Macs and iMovie, therefore it is quick and easy to upload footage.
  • However for A2 we must take our time when uploading files to make sure we are importing them in the right place, to avoid problems with recovering files.

BLOGGER

  • I had never used Blogger before therefore it took me a long time to work out how to use it, as well as to set up an eye catching page which suited our chosen genre.
  • I used it to present all of my research, our drafts, our storyboards, script, final product, images and videos and presentations.

BLOGGER

  • It tracked my progress within Lunar Productions throughout the year showing the amount of thought put in to creating our piece, and it was useful being able to access it both at home and school.

BLOGGER

  • For A2, I need to ensure I do not spend as much time making it look visually pleasing, and focus on completing and uploading work regularly each week, so that I am not left with a heavy load of tasks to complete towards the deadline, on top of editing our piece.

PRESENTATION SITES

  • I often used sites such as Prezi, E maze WeVideo, PowToon and Haiku Deck to display research and evaluation work.
  • These sites are very easy to use and can be accessed from school and home, which was very useful, as well as could be embedded on to my blog so were easy to view.

PRESENTATION SITES

  • They looked very visually pleasing and made my blog more interactive, dynamic and colourful which was appealing to my target audience.

PRESENTATION SITES

  • The only problems I faced when using these sites was that I often spent too long adjusting the layout and look of them rather than creating and uploading them quickly.
  • Sometimes I also found problems embedding the correct HTML which was time consuming.

PRESENTATION SITES

  • In A2 I will continue to use these sites because they look very eye catching on my blog and are easy to use, but will write the content for them beforehand and insert it onto a ready-made template which would save a lot of time.
